CD Jackets

Four formats, separated by panel count. The jacket has to fold crisply and then hold its shape while a disc is pushed in and out, which keeps the stock range narrow. Filter by how much the interior has to carry.

How to choose
between them

Two panels carries cover artwork, a track listing and one disc. Cheap, quick and enough for a single release with minimal accompanying content. Four panels opens to an interior spread, which is the point a jacket stops being a sleeve and starts being packaging: credits, notes, an image and a track list without crowding. Six panels roughly doubles that again and can hold two discs in separate pockets, which is the only safe way to carry two.

Two build points decide whether it feels right. Panel widths have to be stepped (each inner panel cut fractionally narrower) or the jacket bulges at the fore-edge when closed, which is a fault rather than a characteristic. And print the inside: it is seen every time the disc is taken out, which is far more often than anyone looks at the back cover.
